Eltek Valere, specializing in high-efficiency power systems, announced that it has received a US $2 million order from Orascom Telecom (News - Alert) Holding (OTH), an international telecommunications company.
Colin Howe, CEO of Eltek Valere, remarked in a release, “We have been helping Orascom to successfully deploy its networks in fast-growing markets and the reliability, cost-effectiveness and energy efficiency of our products have proven that we can be relied upon to supply the highest quality power solutions in the industry.”
“We are pleased to have been chosen by Orascom to facilitate expansion into additional markets through new opportunities presented as a result of the merger with VimpelCom,” Howe added.
The order is for the supply of systems to power Orascom’s Mobilink (News - Alert) services in the Middle East, Africa and Asia.
Eltek Valere sources revealed that the company is working in tandem with Orascom to provide power systems for its wireless networks across the globe. Recently Orascom merged with Dutch mobile telecom company VimpelCom, which unveiled greater opportunities in Russia and Canada. In view of this merger Eltek Valere (News - Alert) has also acquired contracts to supply power systems for more new telecoms markets, said officials.
Eltek Valere will deliver its Flatpack2 2kW HE rectifiers, which is an optimized compact power system suitable for wireless networks. It caters to demands with flexible and expandable DC power solutions as required in migration to 4G networks and for increase in smartphone traffic.
The Flatpack2 HE is a green solution as it is designed to reduce energy waste, and increases AC to DC conversion efficiency to 96 percent. The rectifiers have reduced electricity waste, thereby reducing CO2 emissions by approximately 140,000 tons besides controlling power-related operating expenses for carriers.
According to company sources, the merger of VimpelCom with Orascom has resulted in the creation of the world’s fifth-largest mobile operator group. The services offered by the group include wireless, fixed, and broadband services. Countries benefiting from these services are Russia, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, Algeria, Bangladesh and a host of other nations.
In related news, TMCnet reported that Eltek Valere announced that it showcased its new products at CTIA (News - Alert) 2011, which took place in March. These new products have the ability to provide the industry’s highest efficiency (HE) power for 3G and 4G wireless networks.
