Interxion Belgium Goes Green with 100% Green Energy



Following the “go green footstep”, leading European provider Interxion (News - Alert) has decided to source all of its energy from renewable sources such a solar, wind and hydroelectric power.

Interxion’s Belgian data center has taken the strategic decision to make best use of the naturally available resources. With increase in on cloud and rely on the Internet to deliver their services, data centers such as Interxion have an increasingly critical role to play, not just in the housing and delivery of these applications, but also in ensuring they are housed in the most energy-efficient environments.

Frederik Dewulf, managing director of Interxion Belgium, said that their company recognizes that as a pan-European provider of power-intensive data center services, it has a duty to provide leadership and model practice in maximizing energy efficiency and sustainability.

“This move to 100% green energy further reflects our commitment and reassures our customers that we always endeavour to provide the most energy-efficient environment, whether that be through the power we offer or the overall design of our sites,” added Dewulf.

For years, Interxion has taken the initiative to help the industry in implementing and achieving data center efficiency and providing its customers with 100% green power in the best possible way.

Apart from this, Ali Moinuddin, director of marketing at Interxion, has taken responsibility as co-chair for The Green Grid (News - Alert) European Communications Committee and actively participates in identifying and promoting the best practices around energy efficiency in ICT infrastructure.

The Green Grid is a global consortium of IT companies and professionals seeking to improve energy efficiency in data centers and business computing ecosystems around the globe. Interxion is also a founding member of the Uptime Institute’s European Chapter and a member of the European Commission's DG Joint Research Committee on Sustainability and its European Data Centre Code of Conduct Metrics Group.

Interxion offers carrier-neutral colocation data centre services in Europe, serving over 1,200 customers through 28 data centers in 11 European countries.
