PepsiCo Teams Up with 7-Eleven Handee Marts to Promote Recycling

7-Eleven Handee Marts normally works with PepsiCo to make deals about Pepsi Cola and Gatorade, but today the company announced a deal with PepsiCo to promote recycling.

The deal will make Dream Machine recycling bins available at more than 20 7-Eleven locations in the Pittsburgh area and it gives Pittsburgh residents their first convenient locations to dispose of recyclables.

7-Eleven Handee Marts celebrated the news with its new partners: PepsiCo, Waste Management, Greenopolis, and the Entrepreneurship Bootcamp for Veterans with Disabilities (EBV).

“Handee Marts is extremely excited about the opportunity to be involved in this partnership. This gives us an opportunity to do the right thing in our communities while providing exciting rewards for our guests," said Bruce Earhart, vice president of marketing, Handee Marts Inc. "We are also very pleased to participate in a program that provides assistance to our veterans."

The Dream Machine is a recycling project that has been adding thousands of recycling bins to popular North American locations. The movement was created by PepsiCo to promote recycling and to support war veterans through the Entrepreneurship Bootcamp for Veterans and Disabilities. The more bottles and cans people recycle, the more PepsiCo will provide to EBV.

"We are so pleased that 7-Eleven Handee Marts is committed to environmental sustainability and has partnered with the Dream Machine program to make recycling kiosks available to consumers," said Jeremy Cage, senior vice president of innovation and insights at PepsiCo.  "By recycling in a Dream Machine, those who shop at 7-Eleven locations can earn rewards and help make a real difference for our planet and in the lives of disabled U.S. veterans."

In an effort to promote recycling, the Dream Machine also offers rewards. People who recycle earn points, which can go towards discounts on food, entertainment, and travel.
