A global leader of FCC (News - Alert) catalysts and additives, offering solution-oriented approaches backed by a broad, highly differentiated portfolio and industry-leading technical service, Grace Davison, an operating segment of W. R. Grace & Co. GRA -0.11 percent, has announced the successful global commercialization of eight fluid catalytic cracking (FCC) catalysts and additives with zero or low rare earth content.
In a press release, Shawn A. Abrams, vice president and general manager for Grace Davison Refining Technologies, said, “In order to relieve the cost pressure on customers while maintaining or improving product performance, Grace Davison Refining Technologies has responded quickly to the issues of rare earth price and availability by developing eight new zero/low rare earth catalysts and additives. Grace is investing capital at its manufacturing facilities to make these technologies available globally.”
The REpLaCeR family includes five new catalysts for both hydrotreated and resid feed processing with zero and low rare earth content which was launched in the first quarter of 2011. REsolutio, REBEL, REACTOR, REMEDY and REduceR , FCC catalysts. This family of catalysts utilizes the zeolites and state-of-the-art stabilization methods to deliver performances.
Grace has also recently introduced ResidUltra, a new catalyst with 40% less rare earth than benchmark resid catalysts. A series of low rare earth environmental additives is currently in commercial trials which includes, Super DeSOX-OCI and S per DeSOX-MCD sulfur transfer additives.
Grace Davison was recently in news when Grace Davison Discovery Sciences, a product line of W. R. Grace & Co. announced the opening of a new technical service Knowledge Centre in Southern India for customers in the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries. The new facility is located in Genome Valley (close to Hyderabad), a growing biopharmaceutical area with more than 100 biotechnology companies and major generic pharmaceutical manufacturers.
