The Annual Meeting of Committees that was recently held at Indianapolis, Indiana saw Mahmoud Elkenaney presented with the ATIS (News - Alert) Award for Leadership in Standards. Elkenaney, a senior director of Physical Design and Environmental Sustainability at Huawei, received the award for his impeccable leadership, commitment and dedication to developing programs as well as technical plans according to ATIS’ standards.
In a release, Susan Miller, CEO and President of ATIS, said that, “The ATIS 2011 award recipients have demonstrated their ability to drive the future direction of technology in the ICT industry, the leadership and expertise to drive standards solutions, and the energy and commitment to engage others in this process. Their accomplishments are what will ultimately deliver the next-generation networks and technologies to consumers.”
Global CTO of Huawei Matt Bross (News - Alert) said that, “ATIS is a leader in the ICT industry's movement toward improved sustainability where its Telecommunications Energy Efficiency Ratio (TEER) standards allow service providers to assess telecom equipment's true energy consumption -- enabling increased energy efficiencies and cost containment and reduce the CO2 emissions footprint of the network. We are pleased to work with ATIS on Sustainability in pursuit of these environmentally-friendly business tools. We are committed to global standards development initiatives to develop universally applied energy efficiency objectives.”
In other news, Bharti Airtel (News - Alert), the largest mobile telecom operator in India, and Huawei have signed a contract to help modernize and expand 2G and 3G network in Africa. Huawei will deploy complete GSM and 3G product portfolios as well as GSM and HSPA technologies for the partner to make well preparation for the future development of LTE (News - Alert).
