Nexsan Launches Disk-Based Data Storage System for Multi-OS Environments

Nexsan has announced the launch of SATABeast Xi, a high density, energy efficient disk-based data storage system suitable for Apple (News - Alert) Xserve and Mac Pro markets.

Nexsan specializes in energy efficient disk-based storage systems for the long term storage of information.

The SATABeast Xi provides 42 TB of storage in 4U of rack space and features AutoMAID (Massive Array of Idle Disks).

AutoMAID enables SATABeast Xi to keep its disk drives idle to conserve energy as well as provide ready access to data. The SATABeast Xi storage solution offers both fiber channel and iSCSI connectivity at wire-speed performance which is flexible, scalable and OS independent said Nexsan in a press release.

Besides being a storage solution for Apple Xserve and Mac Pro, the SATABeast with its GUI, is suitable for Leopard OS users as well.

Nexsan’s SATABeast Xi is suitable for primary data storage for applications like uncompressed, real-time HDTV as well as for multi-stream and analog TV signals with video editing (without frame drops).

It also offers secondary storage applications and disk-to-disk backup for online access to data. This allows business continuity and data protection as well as offers access to large volumes of data.
