Watchit Technologies Inc. (WTCT), a green technology incubator based in Arden, North Carolina, announced on April 26 that it has awarded a contract to a Chicago-area automotive manufacturer to build the next phase of prototypes for WTCT’s patent-pending fuel-savings device, the Fuel Reformer.
The Fuel Reformer is a device that alters the molecular structure of petroleum-based fuels just before they are injected into an engine. The “reformed” fuel burns more efficiently, thus increasing miles per gallon and reducing emissions, as well as engine wear. In December 2010, the Fuel Reformer performed for more than 80,000 miles in actual road tests in every type of terrain and weather conditions. It also was tested in an EPA-certified laboratory. The results of these tests demonstrated a 40 percent increase in highway fuel mileage and a reduction of as much as 60 percent in some harmful tailpipe emissions.
In addition, WTCT has documented that the Fuel Reformer reduces wear and tear on the engine. A more complete burn of the fuel produces fewer contaminants in the engine oil that can coat the engine's parts with harmful substances. Less adulterant in the engine's lubrication results in longer engine life, and fewer oil changes.
“At this point, our sole purpose is to move the Fuel Reformer to the point of production,” commented Max Bennett, president and CEO of WatchIt Technologies. When the new prototypes are built, he said, WTCT “will use those units to test at an automotive industry accepted fuel lab in Detroit, [where] we will not only be verifying and substantiating the Fuel Reformer’s fuel-savings capabilities, but answering many engineering questions that will contribute to a detailed understanding of … its applications to the market.”
Specifically, the lab will perform testing that will prove that the earlier Fuel Reformer results can be replicated and repeated on a number of units. In addition, a chemical analysis of the fuel, both pre- and post- reformation will be done to independently document changes in the structure of the fuel.
“This next round of testing and evaluation is necessary for the automotive industry to accept our previous results,” stated Bennett. “WTCT has secured a commitment of independent funding that will allow us to produce the needed prototypes as well as proceed with testing. Very specific success criteria [are] being negotiated that will be tied to the funding and additional testing and evaluation.
“In very simple terms, Bennett explained, “when the company can replicate its previous test results, we will be in a position to catapult the Fuel Reformer to the world markets without any concerns over finance and production. This is possibly the single biggest step in the history of the company and the Fuel Reformer.”
In other news, WatchIt Technologies is about to embark on an all important trip that is supposed to determine the future prospect of its patent pending fuel savings device.
In a press release, the Colorado based company announced that the company’s green technology vehicle with the patent pending fuel savings device will set off for a 2,500 mile round trip from Colorado to Chicago, where the device will be presented for an evaluation at a Chicago area engineering and auto parts manufacturer.
