The “Green” approach to life and businesses has gotten much attention lately, not without the help of Al Gore and An Inconvenient Truth. With so much brought to light on how we humans are affecting the future of the planet, consumers are demanding more from the companies with which they do business.
“There is no business to be done on a dead planet,” says executive director of the Sierra Club, David Brower, in a Thursday statement.
With this new information, businesses throughout the world are beginning to understand that green business practices are no longer optional, but essential for future operations.
As a result of this ‘revelation,’ recycling bins are springing up, alternative energy is powering buildings, water conservation programs are being put into place, and so much more.
These efforts are also extending into business travel. Green Travel by RezHub.com is helping businesses to green up their corporate travel as well.
The launch of the Official Green Travel Provider program will enable businesses to easily find and book with green hotels, rent hybrid cars, and offset their carbon footprints. In addition, since green travel options can be limited to certain cities, any travel booked (green labeled or not) doubles as a donation to an environmental non-profit to ensure all bookings make a positive impact on the planet.
Businesses often overlook the huge contribution that corporate travel makes to global warming. However, those businesses that lack an environmental travel policy are starting to feel the pressure both from their customers and their investors.
Greenwashing — or claiming that a business is green without proven practice — has become a hot button issue for many companies. Being labeled a Greenwasher can have a series impact on business.
A study finding recently published by Chatsworth Communications found that FTSE 100 companies are more concerned with creating an eco-friendly corporate image than actually helping the environment.
To combat this contradiction, RezHub.com is offering businesses the opportunity to make a positive change in their operations, while also proving that change by providing “Official Green Travel Provider” logos that can be used on company Web sites and materials to show a corporate commitment to the environment.
“If we can get even a fraction of the businesses in the U.S. to make the switch to greener travel, the collective impact on the planet would be extraordinary,” says spokesperson for the site, Melissa Evans, in a Thursday statement.
“Our current partners are thrilled with our program because we provide green options at no extra cost. We offer the guaranteed lowest rates for hotels worldwide, and our rates for flights and car rentals are extremely competitive.”
The Official Green Travel Provider program also provides an opportunity to earn extra revenue, which companies can learn more about at RezHub.com.
