ET Water Systems Gets High Score for HermitCrab Unit

To manage hydrological basins, water sources and ecosystems, ET Water Systems, Inc., a green technology services company that specializes in water conservation, management, and smart irrigation control, has introduced the HermitCrab universal controller accessory.

This system converts conventional irrigation controllers to Web-connected smart systems. It has also passed the Irrigation Association's Smart Water Application Technology (SWAT) Performance Protocol test. SWAT is an initiative of water purveyors and irrigation industry representatives that is created to promote landscape water use efficiency through an independent third party testing protocol specific to smart climatologically-based controllers.

Pat McIntyre, CEO of ET Water Systems, said the company has set a new standard with HermitCrab, a universal smart irrigation controller available for the commercial irrigation market today. Its perfect score on the SWAT test will make the HermitCrab eligible for water agency rebates across the United States.

According to a press release, HermitCrab is a small, self-contained weatherproof unit that easily plugs into a broad range of existing conventional irrigation controllers, immediately converting them into smart controllers that operate ET Water's award-winning Web service to efficiently and remotely manage landscape irrigation. It received 100 percent score in irrigation adequacy and efficiency. Irrigation adequacy represents how well irrigation meet the needs of the plant material. Irrigation efficiency shows how well irrigation cycles avoid direct runoff, soak runoff, and exceed the root zone storage capacity.

The Center for Irrigation Technology (CIT), an independent testing laboratory at California State University, Fresno, conducted the rigorous month long test on HermitCrab to determine how well HermitCrab has integrated the scientific data into a practical system that meets the agronomic needs of turf and landscape plants.

In other company news, TMCnet reported that ET Water Systems was invited to present and participate at the California State Assembly .Select Committee on California's Green Economy hearing led by Assembly member Pedro Nava, Chair, Assembly Select Committee on California's Green Economy.
