Knowledge Insider Profiles Canadian Agribusiness Owners With Innovative Products

The latest edition of Farm Credit Canada’s (FCC) knowledge Insider publication titled “Grow your idea” includes the profile of innovative Canadian agribusiness owners who are developing unique products as well as those who are finding new uses from existing products and also includes key insights into their success stories. As per recent findings on Inventionstatistics.com, from most of the products launched in the market, only 20 percent of them tend to succeed in the first year.

Few of these developments include corn based Bioplastic resins, potato starch based golf tees, cash crop biomass converted into car parts as well as functional foods from plant extracts, nutraceuticals and pharmaceuticals and much more. In a release, Brenda Frank, FCC (News - Alert) Senior Director of Strategy and Business Insight said, “Now more than ever, consumers know what they want – affordable, high-quality products that are customized to their needs, and they expect to get it. Someone will meet the needs of these consumers. Canadian agribusiness owners are well positioned to capitalize on opportunities to meet consumer demands, and information in this edition can help them get there.”

One of the success story included in the publication features Joe Vidal, President and CEO of Bioriginal Food & Science Corp that provides innovative essential fatty acid (EFA) solutions. According to Vidal, the key factor to any success story includes listening to customer input since more than half of the innovative suggestions comes from the customers itself. Some of these agribusiness owners also shared their success stories at a recent FCC-hosted panel event in Abbotsford, B.C that included John Rowe of Dragons’ Den with his HoneyDrop product and Bill Vanderkooi with his vitamin D-enriched egg.

As a bi-annual publication, Knowledge Insider provides information from leading-edge business owners and experts while deploying business planning tools to be leveraged by producers and agribusiness and agri-food owners. Delivering on the promise of advancing the agricultural business, FCC is Canada’s leading lender of agriculture and agri-food industry. FCC is strong and stable with a portfolio of more than $20 billion and 17 consecutive years of growth that serves the industry. Showing passion for agriculture, FCC services include financing, insurance, software, learning programs and other business services to producers, agribusinesses and agri-food operations.
