Organizations who are seeking to move from an idea to implementation are faced by two major hurdles. The first hurdle is accessing capital to implement green innovations. Organizations also face difficulties as they try to gain visibility for innovative new developments. A platform to access capital and gain visibility is now offered by the Green Economy Business Opportunity Conference or GEBOC on May 3.
An innovator contest was previously announced by GEBOC. The deadline for submitting a proposal for this contest has now been extended. The new submission deadline is 17th April. Notification for presentation will take place on 19th April. Competitive organizations with a need to highlight their product enhancements, innovations and new strategies can therefore still enter this contest.
An audience of investors in the green economy is offered by GEBOC’s 2nd annual conference. Minority, women and disadvantaged business heads will also be present at the conference. The conference will be held at the Sheraton Four Points at BWI Airport.
The GEBOC Innovator Contest has been authorized by the Presidents’ RoundTable and the Legislative Black Caucus of Maryland. Apart from driving new technological development, the contest will also drive the adoption of promising efficiency practices. The most innovative idea or product development will be declared as the winner of the competition. The use of technologies and strategies to enhance growth in the green economy will be promoted with this idea or product.
Original research projects, technologies, products and approaches that demonstrate innovation and the promise of rigorous application in the green economy are supported by the competition. Practical and multi disciplinary ideas which can have a catalytic effect on social, economic and environmental change will be favored
In a release, Maria Beckett, president of the Presidents’ RoundTable said, “We are encouraging proposals about areas ranging from smart grid integration, renewable energy and energy efficiency, green building design, urban planning, landscape design, waste to energy, urban agriculture, storm water management, and clean transportation to creative financial mechanisms/models for the development of green technologies and sustainable development”.
According to Beckett this is an open invitation to all innovative organizations. They can highlight products and strategies which are either available or on paper.
