Oxygen Education and Purdue Research Foundation Offer Green Technology Training

Green is the buzz word in the corporate world. Without enough training, business cannot achieve desired results in ensuring environmental sustainability.

Oxygen Education, a developer of online learning content for technical education and workforce development, has partnered with the Purdue Research Foundation to offer green technology online training.

The online training will be given through a licensing agreement between the two companies. The Purdue Research Foundation is a private, nonprofit foundation created to advance the mission of Purdue University (News - Alert).

“Oxygen Education is very pleased to have the opportunity to collaborate with Purdue in green technology,” said Paul Perkins, president of Amatrol, the parent company of Oxygen Education.

Perkins said that practical, accessible essential training on green technology to benefit business and education has been sorely lacking. The high-quality online training allows educational institutions to extend programming without investing in time and resources required to build a curriculum locally.

The green technology training can assist a company to improve environmental sustainability. The training examines major environmental issues faced by manufacturers.

The training identifies tools to redesign business practices using environment friendly techniques. Purdue has also included a case study simulation in the training. The case study provides real-life experience in analyzing business processes and adopting sustainable practices, company officials said.

The online program is suitable for educational institutions, manufacturers, businesses, industry and workforce development initiatives interested in environmental business management practices.

“Making green generalist training available online will provide the opportunity to learn about green technology, global sustainability and the associated cost-cutting practices,” said Joseph B. Hornett, senior vice president, treasurer and COO of the Purdue Research Foundation, in a statement.

“Interest in environmentally friendly methods is booming, and people trained to understand how to address sustainability issues will be able to market themselves better to prospective employers,” Hornett added.

The Purdue Research Foundation oversees the Purdue Research Park, which is the largest university-affiliated business incubator in the country.

Recently, Purdue Research Foundation and Techshot announced their partnership to speed up the development of promising technology companies. This is done by exploiting Techshot's technology commercialization capabilities.
