CFLs and LEDs Set to Trump Incandescent Bulbs

Perhaps the hottest thing in the market now is the concept of “Going Green” and the USA Today Gallup poll seems to clearly indicate that Americans are finally supporting the U.S. law that deals with the phasing out of traditional light bulbs in 2012.

Over the past few years, at least 71 percent of Americans say that compact fluorescent lamps or CFLS and Light Emitting diodes or LEDs have replaces the standard light bulbs in their homes. The best part, however, lies in the fact that the majority seem pretty satisfied with the alternatives. CFLs use 75 percent less energy and that translates to a dramatic decrease on home electricity bills.

MXenergy, one of the nation's fastest growing independent energy providers advocates the use of energy efficient lighting as it benefits the consumer as well as the planet.

In a press release, Marjorie Kass, MXenergy managing director and host of MXTV’s “Attainable Sustainables said that converting to CFLs or LEDs was a simple, easy step that homeowners could take, a step that would have an immediate impact on their home energy efficiency and by making this move, electricity consumption would automatically reduce. She hoped that this initiative was a precursor to others that would follow once homeowners found that their initial initiatives had paid off.

Kass also added that the quickest way for homeowners to identify areas for improvement was through a home energy audit that could save the average homeowner several hundred dollars a year and there were government rebates that would offset the initial cost. MXenergy has found a novel way of propagating its message of energy efficiency and other environmental issues. It has created its own On Demand cable channel MXenergy TV, which can be found on Cablevision iO Channel 654 in the Northeast United States. It has many programs that focus on energy efficiency and green living.
