ecobee Launches Free Android App for the ecobee Smart Thermostat

ecobee, the award-winning green technology company, has introduced a free Android (News - Alert) app for the ecobee Smart Thermostat. With the launch of the application, the company has made a successful step in expanding its mobile offerings.

The users, with the help of the ecobee Android app, which is downloadable from the Android Market, are allowed to control their ecobee Smart Thermostats anytime, anywhere from the convenience of their Android devices.

In appearance and operation, the ecobee Android app is just like the ecobee Smart Thermostat and works on any Android device with OS 2.0 and up. Users can remotely adjust the thermostat's temperature, schedule or update a vacation event, change the system and fan operating settings, and receive important alerts.

"Our customers expect to be able to access their ecobee Smart Thermostats from anywhere across a wide variety of mobile platforms," said ecobee founder and CEO Stuart Lombard, in a press release. "In response to the rapid adoption of Android devices and the many requests from our loyal customers, we have launched our free Android app to make it even easier for our customers to save energy without sacrificing their comfort."

As one ecobee user stated, "I just installed your WiFi (News - Alert) Smart Thermostat in our new house and couldn't be more pleased. We're driving back and forth from our old to our new house every few days, and the next time we drive back, I'll be able to cancel vacation mode from the car using your Android app a half hour from our destination."

A free iPhone app which has proven immensely popular with tens of thousands of downloads to date is also offered by ecobee.

In green technology related news, ASC’s (News - Alert) environmental management system has been certified on February 9 according to DIN ISO 14001:2005.
