State Street Racks Up Green, Financial and IT Awards

State Street Corporation, a provider of financial services to institutional investors, has been honored for its information technology achievements and leadership by several industry organizations and publications.

State Street’s IT team "was recognized by Waters magazine at the American Financial Technology Awards, by BCS, the Chartered Institute for IT and Computing Magazine at the UK IT Industry Awards," according to State Street officials. It was also ranked third on Computerworld’s annual Top Green-IT Companies list.

Chris Perretta, executive vice president and chief information officer at State Street, said “Securing these honors acknowledges the talented and dedicated individuals that are part of State Street’s IT infrastructure organization. At State Street, our approach to IT includes implementing new technologies to develop and deploy new products.”

At the recent 2010 American Financial Technology Awards in New York, State Street took top rankings in two categories, Best IT Team and Best Data Center Initiative. The sixth annual AFTA event is hosted by Waters magazine, and recognizes financial companies for "industry excellence and innovation in the deployment and management of financial information technology."

Earlier this month, TMCnet reported thatState Street, K&L Gates LLP and the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts University announced a collaborative relationship to provide strategic insight, quantitative, independent research and thought leadership focused on public policy issues and investment challenges facing sovereign wealth funds (SWFs), institutional investors, central banks, governments and international organizations.

The collaboration combines the expertise and educational resources of the oldest graduate school of international affairs in the United States with the provider of financial services to institutional investors and a global law firm. It also builds upon the momentum created by the Sovereign Wealth Fund Initiative, based at the Center for Emerging Market Enterprises at the Fletcher School.
