Cox Cares Invites Nominations For Cox Conservation Champions



Cox Cares, the community outreach arm of Cox Communications in Orange (News - Alert) Coast will be accepting nominations for its Cox Conservation Champions program. The organization is look for the community’s most active conservationists who strive towards creating, improving, preserving and enhancing the shared outdoor places in its communities to be honored by this award. The last date for filing nominations is Feb. 11.

Gail Bongcaras, community relations manager of Cox (News - Alert) in Orange Coast said,“Cox Orange Coast is proud to recognize our community’s most active conservationists as they make a difference in preserving our natural resources through beautification projects, advocacy, education or other types of community outreach. By involving the entire community in selecting winners, we hope to raise awareness throughout our community of the importance of all of us being stewards of our environment.”

The award nomination forms are available on the Cox Cares’ website. Although no restrictions have been imposed on the age limit of applicants, it is mandatory that they have to reside within the service area of Cox Orange Coast.

The award will be presented to two champions, a minor and an adult, selected through online public voting. Three finalists each will be selected for both the adult and minor categories by a panel of Cox associates and civic leaders within Cox Orange Coast’s conservation field. The profiles of the six finalists will be featured by Cox Cares and selection of the champions will be determined by public choice.

The public can cast their votes from March 28 to April 20, concluding at 5 p.m. PST. On expiry of the voting period, the minor and adult finalists with the maximum number of votes will be chosen as the Cox Cares Conservation Champions for 2011.

The winners will be honored on Earth Day on April 22. $2,500, $1,000 and $500 will be awarded to the first, second and third place winners respectively in each category for donating to a registered local environmental non-profit organization of their choice within the service area of Cox Orange Coast.
