Secure TradeIn, a subsidiary site of ReCellular (News - Alert), a recycler and reseller of used cell phones, will launch a $10 million buy-back program that will encourage consumers to trade in their cell phones for cash.

It is expected that many consumers will be going for a change in their mobile phones following Verizon’s (News - Alert) iPhone announcement and the introduction of several new mobile phones at the CES (News - Alert) 2011. The trade-in site deciphered in a December survey that about 31 percent of consumers are planning to purchase an iPhone as soon as it becomes available from other carriers.

According to company sources, the simple, step-by-step process offered by Secure TradeIn makes used cell phone selling easy. On SecureTradeIn.com, consumers enter the make and model of their current phone, receive an instant offer for the phone, and print a free FedEx shipping label to mail their phone and any accessories. Upon receiving the device, Secure TradeIn will mail a check within 15 days.

Also, the company ensures that all content from the sold mobile phones will be deleted by Secure TradeIn by using Cell Phone Data Eraser, its proprietary technology. Secure TradeIn scrubs each and every phone clean of all personal data, being a specialist in data removal. The company has processed more than 50 million phones without incidence of compromised information so far, emphasized official sources.

The buy-back program also assures consumers of zero-landfill guarantee as Secure TradeIn ensures that all phones are responsibly recycled, when not refurbished or resold. Secure TradeIn recycled more than 945,000 pounds of materials, including technology items, paper, cardboard and plastic shipping materials.

The company voluntarily subjects itself and all recycling partners to independent audits twice a year to track the handling, processing, and disposition of used cell phone materials, Secure TradeIn strives to ensure a cleaner, healthier environment for all.

Further highlighting the company’s green initiatives, Steve Manning, CEO of ReCellular, said in a release, “As the consumer electronics industry continues to grow, it becomes increasingly important that our used electronics are handled responsibly once we’re through with them.”

“We guarantee data-security and provide environmentally-sound solutions for those who wish to sell or recycle their used gadgets. That is truly what sets us apart,” Manning added.

ReCellular provides solutions for the collection, reuse and recycling of used personal electronics that can offer financial return for company partners besides offering quality products for customers, funding for charity organizations and protecting the environment.
