e-Cycle LLC announced its intentions to host a booth at the Macworld Expo in San Francisco between Jan. 27 - 29, 2011.

This initiative will give attendees an opportunity to sell used iPhones at the same time ensuring that their private data is not compromised. e-Cycle iPhone (News - Alert) buyback representatives from the company will value each iPhone including damaged devices and write out checks according to the assessed market value of the device. Besides, data security experts will help with the data deletion from each iPhone that was purchased by e-Cycle, explained company officials.

In a press release, e-Cycle President and CEO, Chris Irion, said, “We estimate that there are approximately nine million iPhones retired for newer devices each year, and we expect that number to grow considerably within the next two years.”

“Of the estimated 140 million mobile phones discarded in the U.S., only about 10% are recycled. But nearly 50% of these devices still have a resale value. e-Cycle hopes to spread the ‘reuse and recycle’ message to Macworld attendees. Selling used iPhones is good for your bank account and great for the environment,” Irion added.

e-Cycle specializes in offering wireless mobile phone recycling and buyback services for Fortune 500 companies besides also offering mobile data security solutions. Recently the company launched a consumer division that is responsible for purchasing used iPhones and iPads through an online iPhone buyback tool available on the company’s website.
