Power Efficiency's Revolutionary E-Save Technology Granted Patent

The U.S. patent and Trademark office granted a patent for a core algorithm incorporated in Power Efficiency corporation's revolutionary E-Save Technology platform. The patent, a very important one at that, encompasses the method, system and apparatus for controlling electric motors and optimizing their energy use.

Power Efficiency Corporation, a clean tech company focused on efficiency technologies, developed the platform in order to reduce electric motor energy consumption. In general, electric motors are so sized that they can handle heavy peak loads. However, most equipment operate at its peak potential load only for certain intervals of time and at less that 40 percent of the rated load for longer periods of time. This would indicate that energy use of the motor is not optimized. E-Save Technology allows for such variations in load profiles and adjusts the amount of energy required so that there is no wastage. This has resulted in energy savings of up to 35 percent in appropriate applications.

In a press release, Steve Strasser, Chairman and CEO of Power Efficiency Corporation spoke about the significance of the important patent and said that it covered the core control algorithm for reducing electricity use by an electric motor when it was lightly loaded and this was an integral part of the E-Save technology platform.

Strasser further added, “We are extremely proud of this technology because of the significant savings it creates for applications driven by Alternating Current Induction Motors, the workhorses of industrial and commercial equipment throughout the world. This is the second patent the company has been granted to date as part of its E-Save Technology platform.”

In the vertical transportation market, Power Efficiency has certainly made a name for itself by using 3-phase Motor Efficiency Controllers at large airports, transit systems, entertainment complexes and even in the U.S. Capitol Complex.

The company is also working with several large end users, OEMs and distributors to increase its participation in industrial market

Power Efficiency is incorporated in Delaware and is headquartered in Las Vegas, Nev.ada. It is a clean tech company focused on efficiency technologies for electric motors.

In a related news release, Power Efficiency Corporation and KONE Inc., one of the world’s leading elevator and escalator companies, announced that KONE installed its EcoStart, which incorporates Power Efficiency’s E-Save Technology, on escalators at the U.S. Capitol Visitor Center.
