Epicor Software Intros SaaS based Carbon Accounting Solution

Epicor Software has announced Epicor Carbon Connect, a software as a service (SaaS (News - Alert))-based carbon accounting solution to help organizations address sustainability and the ever increasing associated government regulations.

With Epicor Carbon Connect, the companies can identify, analyze, audit, track, manage, benchmark and report on their carbon emissions /environmental impact and energy consumption.

In addition to Epicor enterprise resource planning (ERP) utility invoices and production schedules drawn from current or forecasted orders, companies can use this latest offering to calculate expected emissions output and budget for environmental cost factors, according to company officials.

A fundamental part of an overall financial management and accounting system, Epicor Carbon Connect enables companies to engage in emissions accounting for regulatory, public relations, marketing, and operational efficiency purposes.

Company officials said that the automated reports provided by Epicor Carbon Connect demonstrate measurable savings and provide meaningful measurement of sustainability initiatives.

“Financial management applications are the central hub toward effective management of sustainability challenges,” said Matt Muldoon, vice president, product marketing for Epicor.

Muldoon said that deploying an enterprise-class carbon accounting solution in the Cloud will empower the customers to meet evolving reporting and regulatory requirements, while optimizing the performance, cost and value of their governance, compliance and risk efforts.

Currently, Epicor Carbon Connect is scheduled for release in December 2010, on-demand or on-premise, with Epicor’s next-generation ERP suite. For all other Epicor products, this new offering is expected to be available as an Extend application.

Epicor Software (News - Alert) delivers business software solutions to the manufacturing, distribution, retail, hospitality and services industries. This month, the company unveiled an agreement to acquire Denver-based, privately-held Spectrum (News - Alert) Human Resource Systems Corporation, a provider of web-based HR and talent management solutions, for around USD16m in cash.
