Outlier Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Qualcomm (News
- Alert), Inc., launched SWAGG, the mobile application that will enhance the act of giving gifts besides leveraging the multi-billion dollar gift card industry.
The company serves the mobile commerce ecosystem by offering its mobile domain expertise. Outlier’s new mobile revenue channel is expected to bridge relationships among consumers and retailers.
According to company sources, the application is free and consumers can download SWAGG from the App Store. SWAGG will enhance the shopping experience of consumers by allowing them to manage gift, loyalty and membership cards on their mobile devices, thereby eliminating the use of different plastic cards.
Interested consumers can download SWAGG from the App Store, the Android (News - Alert) Market or by visiting the SWAGG website.
In a press release, Rocco Fabiano, president of Outlier, said, “We created SWAGG to enable consumers to have more of what they need while carrying less.”
“SWAGG is part of a revolution to enhance the way consumers transact by reducing their dependence on plastic gift cards, which can be lost, misplaced or expire before consumers have a chance to fully use them. SWAGG is designed to become a part of the modern shopper's lifestyle by leveraging the power of their mobile device,” Fabiano added.
SWAGG allows consumers to import more than 250 brands of gift cards and rewards cards. It also allows them to check on available balance and reward information on most of these cards.
Consumers can use their mobile device to give, get and even exchange SWAGG gifts from participating merchant partners such as American Apparel Inc., The Wet Seal Inc., Crocs Inc., 1-800-Flowers.com and Arden B.
Users can even access the special offers made by over 3,000 retailers through SWAGG. This also benefits retailers as they can acquire new customers, increase in-store business and retain existing customers.
As gift cards are the most popular form of holiday gifts they are in great demand according to the National Retail Federation. However, most of them go waste due to non-use or because users do not know the available balance. SWAGG is not only easy to use but is also green as it reduces plastic usage, said company sources.
SWAGG has partnered with Stand Up To Cancer to help in the fight to find a cure. For every download by a consumer who also registers for SWAGG by December 31, 2011, SWAGG will donate $1 to Stand Up To Cancer.
