Green Technology Week in Review



So what’s been going on in the exciting world of green technology? Apparently, quite a lot.

FatCow has continued with its ongoing commitment to the environment and green websites, FatCow , a leading provider of green Web hosting, domain registration and related marketing services, created a hosting experience for its customers with its “Host Smart, Drive Smart” giveaway. It recently announced the winners of the “green” giveaway, and the lucky winners were awarded with eco-friendly means of transportation, from Schwinn bikes to a Vespa scooter. The grand-prize winner, David Campbell of inthecorners.org, was given a smart Coupe.   

A free car for going green? Not bad!

In other green technology news, Siemens (News - Alert) Energy just revealed that Burbank Water and Power (BWP), a provider of water and electricity to Burbank, Calif., residents and businesses, completed its installation of the eMeter EnergyIP meter data management system (MDMS).

Ambiente Motors will collaborate with Southern Oregon University Facilities Department on an electric truck pilot project. According to Ambiente sources, it will convert one of Southern Oregon University’s (SOU) existing landscape trucks using its own electric power train design. The pilot project will take 12 to 18 months to complete. It is expected that SOU will pilot test the truck as part of a viability study for converting its entire vehicle fleet to electric.

Camstar Systems, Inc., a provider of solutions for manufacturing execution, process planning, enterprise quality management and supply chain intelligence, has announced that MiaSole, a manufacturer of Copper Indium Gallium Selenide (CIGS) thin-film photovoltaic solar panels, has selected its SolarSuite enterprise software platform, which has been installed throughout its entire Solar manufacturing value chain.
