Committed to going “green” since 2009, FatCow has done more than its bit to save the planet. It switched to a renewable form of energy – wind -- and ensured that all its offices and data centers were powered by 100 percent wind energy.
Continuing with its ongoing commitment to the environment and green websites, FatCow , a leading provider of green Web hosting, domain registration and related marketing services, created a hosting experience for its customers with its “Host Smart, Drive Smart” giveaway. It recently announced the winners of the “green” giveaway, and the lucky winners were awarded with eco-friendly means of transportation, from Schwinn bikes to a Vespa scooter. The grand-prize winner, David Campbell of inthecorners.org, was given a smart Coupe.
“We’re always interested in creating a fun and exciting hosting experience for our customers. Giving away prizes is one of our favorite things to do,” an original Moo Crew member and FatCow manager, Sophia Nobrega, said. “But this year, our giveaway was about more than just prizes. It was about the environment and the impact we all have on it. We wanted to take another small step towards protecting it.”
The eco-friendly giveaway was a success story in itself for FatCow, but when Nobrega called Campbell to tell him he had won the car, to say that he was delighted would be an understatement. Campbell, of Decatur Illinois, who devoted his life and career to “In the Corners,” a nonprofit organization that provides free labor for home repair and maintenance to those in need, primarily widows and the elderly, was now in a position to finance his pet project. He exchanged the car for its monetary value and got his organization up and running.
“It was a true blessing to receive the call from Sophia at FatCow,” Campbell said. “It couldn’t have happened at a better time. I made the choice to exchange the car for its monetary value, and I donated the money to my organization. It was exactly what we needed to get officially up and running. Now, because of FatCow, we will be able to reach so many in need that we couldn’t have helped before. Our team at Inthecorners.org will always be grateful for the wonderful people FatCow.com.”
The Moo Crew at FatCow.com is looking forward to the next giveaway, and will continue in its efforts and strides towards protecting the environment and creating a positive green hosting experience for its customers.
