NCR Corp. Intros New Energy-Efficient Dual-Core Technology for ATMs and POS Solutions



In a bid to improve energy efficiency and enhance their offerings, technology company NCR Corporation will now offer Intel (News - Alert) dual-core processor technology in its ATMs and point-of-sale (POS) solutions.

With the new technology included in its ATMs and POS solutions, it is possible to have cooler, quieter systems that save on energy, as power is only transferred to the area of processor needing it—achieving up to 40 percent faster processing capacity with enhanced power savings.

"The market has quickly recognized the value of the new dual-core technology in providing enhanced power savings while still maximizing performance, scalability and investment protection for the future. Leading financial institutions and retail businesses worldwide are seeking ways to decrease carbon footprints and conserve resources while enhancing the efficiencies of technologies and processes within their reach. The energy savings now available by integrating dual-core technology within NCR ATMs and RealPOS solutions is just one of the ways NCR is helping our customers achieve a vision of sustainability," commented Alan Chow, chief technology officer for NCR.

Also the addition of the dual-core processors not only offers support for faster, better self-service and assisted transactions, but also, "a platform for the next generation of consumer experience and high-impact graphics."
 
NCR will implement the new technology in its broader range of products as well as offer upgrade kits.

The company also announced most recently an agreement with Alcatel (News - Alert)-Lucent for on-site installation and maintenance services for its enterprise communications customers spread across North America.
