Logitech Launches Solar-Powered Keyboard

Logitech, a provider of hardware and software solutions that enable or enhance digital navigation, music and video entertainment, gaming, social networking, audio and video communication over the Internet, and video security and home-entertainment control, announced it will launch its first light-powered keyboard, named Logitech (News - Alert) Wireless Solar Keyboard K750.

Powering itself through any amount of light available to it, even when it’s indoors, the new Logitech Wireless Solar Keyboard saves the users from battery hassles and offers them the freedom of continuous computing.

In the words of Denis Pavillard, vice president of product marketing for Logitech’s keyboards and desktops, the keyboard is still the best input device for typing e-mails and IMs, updating Facebook (News - Alert) page or posting responses to blogs, and the Logitech Wireless Solar Keyboard K750 is the next big innovation in keyboard technology. Pavillard continued that the Logitech Wireless Solar Keyboard is powered by light but can work in total darkness for up to three months, and has been designed to minimize its footprint with its PVC-free construction and fully recyclable packaging.

The integrated solar panel of the Logitech Wireless Solar Keyboard doesn’t require the users to attach any power bricks or charging cables with it, and the solar power app included within it features a lux meter that helps the users to get the necessary light, so that they can get quick information about battery levels and become alert when they need more power.

Users can power the solar keyboard by indoor light, which stays charged for at least three months in total darkness. The device is sleekly designed with a thickness of just 1/3-inches, and features rounded edges that contribute to its good and stylish looks.

Equipped with an enhanced feature named Logitech Incurve keys that helps in fast and smooth typing, the new solar keyboard is based upon a concave design that supports the shape of users’ fingertips and helps in guiding their fingers to the right keys.

Logitech Advanced 2.4 GHz wireless connectivity keeps the users connected to their systems through Logitech Wireless Solar Keyboard K750 without any delays or dropouts, providing them with all the benefits of a cord, with the convenience of wireless. The Logitech Advanced 2.4 wireless connectivity is protected with 128-bit AES encryption, offering a high level of security.

In October 2010, Logitech launched a remote control application for the Android (News - Alert) market, allowing Logitech Revue owners to change channels, adjust volume and turn on and off the Web-enabled TV by simply clicking a few buttons on their smartphone.

The solar power app will be available for download on Nov. 15, here.
