GrenTech Successfully Bids for CMMB Project

According to a recent press release, China GrenTech Corporation, a leading China-based provider of radio frequency (RF) and wireless coverage products and service, won bids from China Broadcasting Corporation (CBC). CBC had invited tenders for supplying equipment and integration services for the China Mobile (News - Alert) Multimedia Broadcasting (CMMB) project. The company has added another feather to its cap by bagging this high profile contract.

CMMB project, if successfully achieved, will further boost the market credibility of GrenTech. The company, which uses RF technology to design and manufacture wireless coverage products enabling telecommunication operators to enlarge the reach of their wireless communication networks to indoor and outdoor areas such as buildings, highways, railways and distant areas, has achieved an outstanding performance in this bidding process. It became the only vendor to win all seven bid sections out of 34 bidding companies. The tender includes indoor and outdoor low-power transmitter, indoor antenna and passive components amongst the others.

"We are pleased to announce our successful participation at the China Broadcasting Corporation bidding process," said Mr. Yingjie Gao, GrenTech's chairman and chief executive officer. "Our success in this bid reaffirms our position as one of the leading providers of radio frequency technology and wireless coverage products and services in China with an exciting pipeline of new products to come."

For the implementation of CMMB, which is a mobile television and multimedia standard developed and specified in China by the State Administration of Radio, Film, and Television, a service provider was needed that has expertise in RF technology to design and manufacture wireless coverage products. GrenTech's experience in this realm paved the way for its eventual selection. The company’s successful bidding illustrates its capability to efficiently handle such projects.
