Samsung Declares Winner of the Sweepstakes in Its Nationwide In-School Education and Recycling Program



Samsung (News - Alert) Telecommunications America, a dealer in semiconductor, telecommunication, digital media and digital convergence technologies, has stated that they have released the winners list of the sweepstakes included in their nationwide in-school education and recycling program.

The company has announced that Geneva High School in Geneva, OH, is the recipient of a back-to-school concert by Hey Monday band. Also they will be providing a $1000 ‘Green Grants’ to fifty schools that have strived to make themselves more environmental friendly.

Using the in-school education and recycling program Samsung explained to teens about the importance and ease of mobile phone recycling and the impact it can have on the environment and society. Students who participated in the program undertook activities that will help them to educate their peers, parents and local communities.

Paul Golden, chief marketing officer of Samsung Mobile has commented that Samsung Mobile is very excited to announce the winners of their in-school education and recycling program sweepstakes. They’d like to thank all the participating schools for their recycling efforts and for helping to spread the word about the importance of recycling mobile phones. Congratulations to Geneva High School, the recipient of a concert by Hey Monday, and to the additional fifty schools who will receive green grants.

Officials with Geneva High School have opinioned that they are proud of the wonderful job their science department did in instilling the importance of protecting environment to their students. By using an easy platform, such as recycling a cell phone, their students were able to get involved and participate in a program that really made a difference.

Samsung Mobile’s recycling efforts support Samsung’s Eco-Management 2013 Plan which details a comprehensive set of sustainability goals to be achieved by Samsung in 2013, which include the reduction of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from manufacturing and product, the development of eco-friendly product, financial investment in eco-management initiatives and enhanced green partnerships with suppliers and partners.
