Frozen Food Foundation Hosts 5K Fun Run & Walk Presented by MorningStar Farms® at Angel Stadium of Anaheim
ANAHEIM, Calif. --(Business Wire)--
The Frozen
Food Foundation is pleased to announce it exceeded its participation
goal for the Frozen Food Foundation 5K
Fun Run & Walk presented by MorningStar Farms® held
today at Angel Stadium of Anaheim.
More than 400 community youth, teens and adults joined the Frozen Food
Foundation and the Boys
& Girls Clubs of Anaheim in a public display of their commitment
to health and wellness. The Foundation is particularly pleased that
nearly 100 youth from the City of Long Beach Parks, Recreation and
Marine youth sports program also participated in the event.
"The Frozen Food Foundation is proud to showcase the frozen food
community's commitment to promoting healthy lifestyles," said Foundation
President Kraig R. Naasz. "I'm delighted by the overwhelming show of
support among members of all ages of the Anaheim community for the
Frozen Food Foundation 5K Fun Run & Walk."
"Nearly one third of American children are overweight or obese, a
sobering statistic that stems, in part, from insufficient physical
activity and poor eating habits," said Naasz. "Through their support of
the 5K Fun Run & Walk, frozen food producers are helping to demonstrate
the value of pairing physical activity with good-for-you food products
that are convenient, tasty and wholesome."
"It is an honor for MorningStar Farms to join with the Frozen Food
Foundation to encourage people to exercise and to eat smarter by
choosing frozen veggie products," said Heather Fries, marketing director
for MorningStar Farms®.
All participants received a souvenir t-shirt and finisher's medal.
Proceeds from the event benefit the public education and research
efforts of the Frozen Food Foundation.
The Frozen Food Foundation thanks 5K sponsors MorningStar
Farms®, Green
Giant®, Sargento®
and Kendall
Frozen Fruits, as well as community and national partners the Boys
& Girls Clubs of Anaheim and the Produce
for Better Health Foundation, respectively.
