Cal Ripken Jr. Teams Up with NewDay USA, LLC
FULTON, Md. --(Business Wire)--
NewDay USA, LLC, one of the nation's leading VA, reverse and government
mortgage lenders and a member of the Chrysalis Holdings family of
companies, today announced that baseball legend Cal Ripken Jr. will
serve as spokesperson for the company's philanthropic activities,
community outreach efforts and the education and training initiatives of
NewDay USA University, which prepares college graduates for successful
careers in mortgage banking. Terms of the multi-year agreement were not
disclosed.
"We are thrilled that Cal Ripken will now work with NewDay USA," said
Rob Posner, CEO of NewDay USA. "He embodies loyalty, integrity and
dedication to both hard work and teamwork - values that the team at
NewDay USA emulate as we strive for excellence in both our service to
our customers and in our commitment to our employees' career
development. Through the Cal Ripken, Sr. Foundation, Cal and his family
epitomize the phrase 'giving back to the communities where we live and
work' and NewDay USA shares this same commitment."
NewDay USA champions the work of several philanthropic groups that help
to meet the needs of veterans, military families and active-duty service
members. Its philanthropic partners include Renovating Hope, Purple
Heart Homes, the National Coalition for Homeless Veterans, the Nation
Trust for the Wounded Warriors and the annual Military Bowl in
Washington D.C. benefiting the USO. The company is also a long-time,
generous supporter of Maryland's statewide Special Olympics programs.
"We are proud and honored that Cal Ripken will represent NewDay USA in
our efforts to do what is right by the men and women who have served our
country so honorably and selflessly," said Rear Admiral Tom Lynch (USN -
ret.), chairman of NewDay USA.
In addition to serving as spokesperson for NewDay USA's philanthropic
activities, Ripken will headline outreach campaigns in local communities
that focus on career development, employee recruitment and NewDay USA
University, a state-of-theart educational initiative designed to
prepare current employees and new recruits for successful careers in
mortgage banking.
"During my visits to NewDay USA's headquarters I have been impressed
with the teamwork, work ethic and commitment to career advancement that
was displayed at all levels of the organization," said Ripken. "NewDay
USA's philanthropic initiatives and professionalism led by an unmatched
board and senior staff made them an organization I very much wanted to
be aligned with. I am pleased to represent NewDay USA and its efforts to
create opportunities for young people, support members of the armed
services and help families in communities across the nation."
Cal Ripken, Jr. is baseball's all-time Iron Man. In 1995, Ripken broke
Lou Gehrig's Major League record of 2,130 consecutive games played. He
voluntarily ended his streak on September 20, 1998 after playing 2,632
consecutive games. Ripken retired from baseball in October 2001 after 21
seasons with the Baltimore Orioles. His on-field success laid the
foundation for the legacy Ripken has been building in the business world
ever since he hung up his cleats. He founded Ripken Baseball with the
aim of forging the future of baseball by creating remarkable experiences
for young ballplayers and fans of all ages. Under his leadership, Ripken
Baseball has opened two major youth baseball facilities while also
owning and operating multiple minor league franchises and developing
parks across the country through Ripken Management and Design.
In 2001 Ripken and his family created the Cal Ripken, Sr. Foundation,
which uses baseball as a hook to positively impact the lives of
disadvantaged children across the country.
