Glowpoint Demos Video Communications at Blu-ray Industry Conference

Nov 09, 2009 (Close-Up Media via COMTEX) -- Glowpoint, Inc., a provider of managed services for telepresence and video conferencing, announced it provided a solution to present featured keynote speaker filmmaker Martin Scorsese in New York to an audience in Los Angeles as part of the home entertainment industry's second annual Blu-ray conference, called Blu-Con 2.0, on Tuesday, November 3.

Glowpoint said its solution involved a high-definition, two-way interactive video session, established through Glowpoint's video cloud (known as "TEN"), which enabled the Academy Award-winning director to present from the Director's Guild of America offices in New York City to 450 event attendees in Beverly Hills, California. The annual event is specifically designed to bring together a variety of creative, marketing, and business experts from across the entertainment, IT, and consumer electronics industries to discuss Blu-ray's role in today's home entertainment environment.

"Glowpoint's ability to combine the highest quality image via the Internet in a fully- interactive environment made it the logical choice for this event, which has gained the widespread support of the Hollywood community," said Martin Porter, Blu-Con 2.0's executive producer.

Blu-Con 2.0 was sponsored by Hollywood studios, including Lionsgate Sony Pictures Home Entertainment, 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment, Universal Home Entertainment, Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment, and Warner Brothers and Warner Brothers Home Entertainment. Additional keynote presenters included media and entertainment analyst Jessica Reif Cohen of Merrill Lynch, and Mike Vitelli, executive vice president of customer operations groups for Best Buy.
