GigOptix Adds to Advisory Board

GigOptix, a provider of electronic engines for the optically connected digital world, announced that optical communications expert Prof. Alan Willner has joined the GigOptix Advisory Board.
Prof. Willner conducts research in the fields of optical communications, optical signal processing, optical networks, fiber optics, and optical device technologies. He has held numerous professional positions including President of the IEEE Photonics Society, Co-Chair of the Optical Society of America (OSA) Science and Engineering Council and General Co-Chair of the Conference of Lasers and Electro Optics (CLEO). He has also been Editor-in-Chief of technical publications including the IEEE/OSA Journal of Lightwave Technology (JLT), the IEEE Journal of Selected Topics in Quantum Electronics, and the OSA Optics Letters.
"I have been watching with interest the technology being developed by GigOptix as it has the potential to resolve some of the major challenges facing optical communications," said Prof. Alan Willner. "I am very excited to be engaged with such a talented team."

As a professor and prolific writer, Prof. Willner has contributed much of his knowledge to the world of electrical engineering and optics. Among many awards in his career, he has been honored with the Presidential Faculty Fellows Award from the White House, the David & Lucile Packard Foundation Fellowship in Science & Engineering, the IEEE Photonics Society Distinguished Lecturer Award, the OSA Leadership Award and the Fulbright Foundation Senior Scholar Award.
