Western Blue Selects BigFix as New Strategic Partner to Promote Single Console Power Management Solutions to Companies Embarking on Green Initiatives
SACRAMENTO, Calif. --(Business Wire)--
Western Blue, a leading Green IT solutions integrator, has aligned with BigFix of Emeryville, CA to bring to market intelligent, enterprise wide power management capability. The partnership gives Western Blue the ability to provide customers with a scalable comprehensive, department or organization wide, server and endpoint power management, configured and managed by a single console.
As more and more companies have realized the need to reduce their carbon footprint - both for the environment and for their own cost cutting - the energy use of numerous PCs, monitors, and remote devices has come to the forefront. Technology that can be easily deployed to monitor and reduce this usage automatically has become economically valuable.
According to Terry Joslin, CEO of Western Blue, "We have had long term relationships with power management solutions. More recently, the market has evolved and our customers require a single console solution. This shift has driven our decision to partner with BigFix. As a result, our customers now have access to a first-class system that has multiple features, can be managed from one console, on one platform that addresses the whole lifecycle. The result is a cost effective, easy to manage solution that can be deployed and configured in a short amount of time. The technology pays for itself in less that one year; utility rebates can considerably shorten the payback."
BigFix Power Management is policy based technology that can manage up to 250,000 PCs with a single server to automate a broad range of systems and security management tasks. Facilities and IT Managers can configure their endpoints to go on and off at specific times, based on company operations. They can determine when and if certain machines need to stay on, either for employees to work or to receive necessary software updates, all while reducing overall energy usage by as much as 40%. This means saving of up to $50 per PC per year over, above any of the Microsoft OS and AD settings.
The partner philosophy of BigFix also played into the decision as Western Blue strives to maintain long term relationships with partners they feel are most attuned to the needs of the market, in particular the education and municipal markets who have traditionally lagged in IT spend and have significantly smaller budgets than commercial organizations.
"Western Blue has an outstanding history of delivering sophisticated and cost effective solutions to their customers. We are very pleased they have selected BigFix to extend that reach to include GreenIT technologies," said Chip Davis, Vice President of Sales at BigFix.
