Power-One Announces Availability of AURORA MICRO

Power-One (News - Alert) Inc., a source of renewable energy and energy-efficient power conversion and power management solutions, announced the availability of its micro-inverters, the AURORA MICRO-0.3-I and AURORA MICRO-0.25-I.

These micro-inverters will be available in the U.S.PV inverter has taken the next step to offer panel level MPPT with the AURORA MICRO. This inverter system includes the AURORA CDD communications device. Its efficiency rating of up to 96.5 percent and proprietary MPPT bring high levels of energy production.

"How micro-inverters will be incorporated into the solar installations of the future is currently one of the hot topics within the residential PV industry," stated Paolo Casini, vice president of product marketing at Power-One.

"It is our belief that micro-inverters will soon become a very popular option for residential installers as the setup times will be reduced without affecting the installation's energy harvesting capabilities,” Casini added. “In addition, micro-inverters also reduce the susceptibility to fault; in case of a component failure only the energy produced from the affected PV module will be lost.”

The AURORA MICRO-0.3-I and AURORA MICRO-0.25-I devices are connected to each solar panel, so string sizing or any topology or orientation constraints within the PV modules are not needed. The micro-inverters reduce the effect of module aging.

These inverters offer benefits to small rooftop installations with speed, easy installation, increased control of individual panels and energy harvesting. With each module having its own micro-inverter, each panel benefits from a separate MPPT for optimum power curve for any light conditions. This reduces efficiency loss from partial or temporary shading and from panel mismatching.

The units ensure system expandability at panel level without string resizing or panel matching.Additional features of the AURORA MICRO include an outdoor enclosure and HF isolation to fit any application, requiring the grounding of either one of the DC input terminals. The units are electrolyte-free and it increases the product lifetime and reliability.

As there are no high voltage DC BoS components, the installation of the micro-inverters is very easy. The AURORA CDD is the proprietary wireless communication hub and grid interface provides the homeowner with a historical view of the energy production through Integrated Web Server or via the internet through the AURORA Easy View.

A provider of solar inverters, Power-One offers a full range of inverters for solar installations ranging from small residential to large solar farms. Solar inverters are an integral part to any solar power installation and convert the solar panel power output to usable voltages which can be consumed or supplied back to the utility electric grid.

Solar inverters play a key role in a solar power installation’s effectiveness, and special attention should be paid to solar inverter selection.
