Ascent Solar Technologies, Inc recently launched the EnerPlex solar charger for the Apple iPhone (News - Alert). Ascent has now been offered a purchase order for 50,000 units for the EnerPlex solar charger from TFG Radiant, a private distributor of Ascent in Asia. Ascent's extremely light, slender and flexible solar panels are utilized by the solar charger, thereby offering iPhone users an additional method of charging the iPhone using sunlight.

The EnerPlex solar charger was first showcased at the company’s annual shareholder's meeting and unveiled to the public at Intersolar in Europe. Channel associates of TFG Radiant have placed orders for the EnerPlex solar charger, which will be sold in retail throughout the Asian region. Ascent aims to complete the channel orders in time for the retail launch of EnerPlex chargers in Asia, which has been scheduled for early August.

In a release, Victor Lee, president and CEO, Ascent Solar, said, "Initial response to the EnerPlex solar charger has been excellent. We are very encouraged by the initial orders we have received from our distribution partners in Asia and we are receiving strong interest from potential distributors worldwide. We plan to work closely with our channel partners in Asia to support the retail launch of EnerPlex while continuing to pursue expansion opportunities for this revolutionary line of products around the world."

According to Lee, an incredible response was received by Ascent when it launched the EnerPlex charger at Intersolar Europe. The glossy design of the EnerPlex charger will offer the latest and fashionable method to consumers for charging their smartphones.

Lee said, "With this launch of our first EnerPlex product, with many more to come, we are taking the first step toward driving a new revenue stream with significant growth opportunity for the company."

Ascent will be launching a complete EnerPlex portfolio of consumer products, with the charger being its preliminary product offering. The company is also expected to unveil other ground-breaking offerings for other top smartphones and consumer devices, like the Samsung (News - Alert) Galaxy S III.
