Petra Solar Reduces Costs for Municipalities

Petra Solar has launched its IllumiWave smart street lighting energy management solutions enabling significant cost savings for municipalities and other providers of street lighting.

Equipped with two-way smart grid wireless communications, these solutions are also enabling municipalities and other providers of street lighting to implement energy efficiency and conservation measures.

Petra Solar is a NJ-based technology company providing reliable, cost-effective smart energy solutions to the electric supply industry. Its IllumiWave street light control system enables remote control and management of widely distributed street lights from a central location.

This system allows users to perform several tasks such as enabling them to remotely schedule street lights to turn off or dim at predetermined times for energy conservation savings.

A secure web-based communications module of the Petra Solar IntelliView smart energy management system delivers energy consumption data and analytics as well as alerts for bulb outages or abnormal bulb operation.

Petra Solar notes that its IllumiWave systems can work independently or in conjunction with dawn dusk sensors. The solutions can transform street lights from a cost center into a revenue generator over the life of the system.

"IllumiWave uniquely combines smart grid communications and intelligence for remote monitoring, command and control of streetlights to promote energy efficiency and savings worldwide for municipalities and other street lighting providers," said Dr. Shihab Kuran, president and CEO of Petra Solar.

"Having access to control the energy consumption of scores of streetlights every day not only gives a customer tremendous savings, it also enables environmental benefits associated with energy efficiency."
