The Suntech 300W Vd series, a new high-efficiency solar module, was unveiled for Israel by the world's largest producer of solar panels, Suntech Power Holdings (News - Alert) Co., Ltd. It is powered by Suntech's SuperPoly processing technology.

With a process that produces higher-quality multicrystalline wafers and a superior silicon casting, the module achieves up to 15.5 percent conversion efficiency. This is over 2 percent more than the efficiency provided by the conventional polycrystalline solar modules. Suntech's assurance to offer the industry’s top-of-the-line solar products for its Israeli customers has been reaffirmed by the introduction of the 300W Vd series.

The new module delivers 10 percent more power than conventional polycrystalline products leading to lower balance-of-system and installation costs per watt. The new 300W Vd delivers one of the maximum power per weight ratios in the industry. It is a 72-cell module consisting of 6-inch black square cells. The features include a 5 percent power tolerance and remarkably low oxygen content that leads to high resistance to light-induced degradation. Additionally, they are built to endure all conditions of weather, that is considerably well above IEC (News - Alert) standard requirements. Ideally suited for rooftop installations the product is considered by customers for its light weight, power, and aesthetics.

The 6-inch square cells achieve 18 percent conversion efficiency as they contain minimal oxygen. The technology was developed by Suntech's in-house R&D and wafer production team and was based on a process of hybrid wafer manufacturing which integrated the high efficiency of monocrystalline wafers with the cost-effectiveness and reliability of polycrystalline wafers.

The solar modules are environment friendly and decrease the energy payback time by about 33 percent when compared to conventional monocrystalline modules as they consume lower energy during ingot production. The novel solar module’s anti-reflective surface feature traps the sunlight in the cells combining it with a hydrophobic self-cleaning surface structure.
