Satcon Technology Corporation, a provider of utility-scale power conversion solutions for the renewable energy market, has achieved the number one position in market share for the North American solar inverter market.
Satcon shipped the most total megawatts of any inverter manufacturer in the Americas in the first quarter of 2011, according to data published in IMS Research Q1 2011 PV Inverter Quarterly Market Tracker Report.
“Satcon was one of the biggest market share gainers in Q1’11, gaining considerable share in the Americas in particular,” said Ash Sharma, research director at IMS Research.
“They continue to demonstrate impressive growth in the Americas and Asia and this will be extremely important for the future as these markets are predicted to drive global demand,” Sharma added.
“Building on a strong 2010, we are pleased to continue to strengthen our position in the North American Market, as indicated by the results of IMS Research’s recent findings,” said Steve Rhoades, president and chief executive officer of Satcon.
“With over half of a gigawatt of our 500 kW solutions sold worldwide in 2010, and over 200 megawatts shipped worldwide in the first quarter of the year, our Utility-Ready inverters remain the industry’s most widely selected large scale solutions,” Rhoades added.
Satcon Technology enables advanced reliable and proven clean energy alternatives. The company has designed and delivered the next generation of efficient energy systems for solar photovoltaic, stationary fuel cells, and energy storage systems.
Recently Satcon announced it has been selected by SOLON to supply twelve 1.25 megawatt (MW) Prism Platforms for Pacific Gas and Electric’s (PG&E’s) upcoming 15 MW ground mount installation near Fresno, CA (News - Alert).
