City of Sacramento Launches Clean Energy Drive In Partnership With Ygrene Energy Fund



The City of Sacramento recently announced the launch of Clean Energy (News - Alert) Sacramento in partnership with Ygrene Energy Fund, an expert in clean energyfinance programs for local governments. Envisioned as a pioneering public-private partnership, Clean Energy Sacramento will offer energy efficiency, renewable energy and water conservation upgrades to local property owners at no up-front cost.

In a statement, Kevin Johnson, mayor of Sacramento, said that, "Launching Clean Energy Sacramento is a major milestone in establishing this city as a national leader in the green economy. Not only are we making Sacramento a cleaner and healthier place to live, we're also putting Sacramento's hard-hit construction business back to work and revitalizing our economy at zero cost to taxpayers. Clean Energy Sacramento is a win for the city in every way, and I encourage all property owners to join this innovative program as we transform the Sacramento region into the Emerald Valley."

The project is expected to generate thousands of jobs, drive property values while also helping the city of Sacramento to reduce their energy consumption by 15% by the year 2020.

Funding has already been approved for commercial and residential properties under the program. This also includes an upgrade project for a more efficient chiller at 520 Capitol Mall. Airco Mechanical, a certified Ygrene contractor, will handle the $513,000 project. With this installation, the mall is expecting to benefit from a reduction in costs of $47,000 a year for 25 years, while also improving its property value substantially.

Ygrene also proudly announced the opening of its Ygrene Energy Center, Sacramento located at 2600 Capitol Avenue. The venue will serve as a community hub for the program. At the Ygrene Energy Center, Sacramento will carry out contractor trainings, and energy efficiency workshops in addition to holding partner meetings, all with the aim of providing information on the latest in green products.
