Frost & Sullivan Publishes a Report on North American Electric Vehicle Charging Infrastructure Market

In U.S., many major companies are working hard to build charging stations for electrical vehicles due to burgeoning demand. There are new types of charge station prototypes in the pipeline, which includes GE's WattStation charger, ECOtality's Blink Charger, and the Coulomb Chargepoint charger. All of these chargers have started rolling out or will be released later this year.

In its recently published report, named “Strategic Technology and Market Analysis of Electric Vehicle Charging Infrastructure in North America”, Frost & Sullivan (News - Alert) reported that the electric vehicle (EV) charging station market in North America has grown immensely. This is helped along by favorable government levels’(federal, state and municipal) incentives and subsidies for the purchase of EVs.

The government is enhancing these plans to the installation of charging station and funding programs such as ECOtality’s EV project. The project is trying to install electric vehicle charging infrastructure in six major states so that it becomes easier for the users of electric vehicles to charge their vehicles, the company stated in a press release.

“EVs are more expensive than conventional vehicles, therefore, federal government is granting customers as much as $7,500 in incentives to purchase an EV," said Frost & Sullivan Research Associate Prajyot Sathe. "Incentives include discounts on the purchase of EVs, tax credits or exemption and other advantages such as usage of heavy occupancy vehicle (HOV) lanes and free parking. Participants are introducing various strategies such as providing EV charging facilities in restaurants, leisure places and malls as a value-added service to customers.”

Recently, the company honored and celebrated ICT's best at the 9th annual Frost & Sullivan Asia Pacific ICT Awards 2012 banquet held at the Shangri-La Hotel, Singapore. The Awards look to give tribute to the excellent performance by companies in the Enterprise, Telecom, and Service Provider segments of the Information, Communication and Technology industry.
