P3E Helps Monitor Power 'Marauders' in the Office

Now there’s a new system for monitoring the “balance of power” in your office—and it has nothing to do with workplace politics. New York City-based, Panoramic Power Ltd., a provider of energy management systems, is offering a platform with device-level energy intelligence for commercial and industrial use. Customers can use the system to save energy, measure carbon footprint per-device, detect equipment malfunctions, and save on operational costs.

The P3E solution goes beyond kilowatts to give organizations actionable data about individual electric devices.  It combines miniature, wireless sensor technology with a powerful, cloud-based analytics platform, providing customers with real-time energy consumption data from specific endpoints or circuits.

Panoramic Power’s wireless, self-powered sensors are engineered to allow rapid, non-invasive installation with no disturbance of daily operations. Once installed, the sensors become part of the building infrastructure—never requiring maintenance or battery replacement.

Data collected by the sensors is wirelessly sent to a bridge. The bridge gathers energy reports at sub-minute intervals, and then analyzes and sends them to Panoramic Power’s P3E cloud-based analytics platform. The information can be accessed by any browser-enabled device connected to the Internet.

Overall, the P3E solution enhances operations by reducing manual search times for locating system failures or inefficiencies; and automatically alerting staff, if a system does not operate according to the defined specifications. It also stimulates behavioral change, based on asset-level information— enabling on-site staff to anticipate opportunities to reduce operating costs and system costs.

"Panoramic Power's technology helps energy, facility and corporate managers dramatically reduce a building's energy and operations costs by providing a level of understanding about power consumption never dreamed of before. Information is truly powerful in this case," said Dr. David Almagor, CEO of Panoramic Power.

He added, "The benefits of the Panoramic P3E solution go way beyond energy measurement and management. P3E enables users to identify operational and maintenance issues before an equipment failure occurs— which is critical for retail, food services companies, health care facilities and other types of commercial and industrial businesses— by detecting unusual energy use patterns in a specific device or system. Panoramic Power's P3E solution is a low-cost and quick way to get a deeper look into the performance of critical equipment."

To date, the P3E platform has been installed at supermarkets, retail chains, and healthcare facilities in the United States, China, France, Poland, Hungary, the Czech Republic, and Israel.

Founded in 2009 in Kfar Sava, Israel, Panoramic Power Ltd. announced  in 2011 that it had raised $4.5 million in an investment round co-led by Israel Cleantech Ventures (ICV) and Greylock Partners. Clal Energy also joined the round. Existing investors, including Qualcomm (News - Alert) Ventures, the Israel Electric Company, and Alexander Schneider participated, as well. The round brought the total financial backing of the company to $6 million.
