Safco Dental Supply Company recently announced that it enhanced its refrigeration system by upgrading to a more advanced and larger unit. This was a strategic move designed to provide a controlled climate environment at its product storage facility thereby helping to maintain and extend the shelf-life of more than 300 Safco products.
In a release, Neil Ingram, vice president and general manager of Safco said, “Customer satisfaction was the number one driver behind this investment. Our operations team worked closely with our manufacturer partners to determine which products should ideally be refrigerated while stored in our warehouse. We also teamed with product manufacturers to establish proper operating procedures, including required temperature of the refrigeration unit, and the charting and recording of actual temperature.”
The new system is expected to be nearly three times more efficient than the refrigeration unit the company was previously using, and this system also enables warehouse staff to identify products more easily and thereby improve order fulfillment time.
The new refrigeration system measures 30x7x8-foot and can hold 1,680 cubic feet of capacity. It has completely replaced eight consumer grade refrigeration units Safco had earlier been using for cold storage purposes. The eleven glass doors the refrigeration system has, allows staff to access any product with ease. The model also has special energy-efficient features and consumes only half the energy as the previous units it replaced. This factor emphasizes the company’s commitment to the environment. The refrigerator also has provision for expansion and it can be utilized to hold more products in the future.
To take this one step further and educate customers on the special refrigeration system at Safco, the company will be adding labels to all its products requiring refrigeration. The labels will also carry information on whether the particular product is recommended or suggested to be refrigerated by the manufacturer. To be put into action from May 2012, all invoices and dental supply catalogs from Safco will include concise and clear information on products requiring refrigeration.
The refrigeration upgrade from Safco underscores the company’s continuing commitment to customer service.
