A10 Networks Taps Power Assure to Gain Visibility, Control of Energy Utilization in Data Center

Power Assure, a provider of data center energy management solutions, announced that networking and security solutions provider A10 Networks (News - Alert) has selected the Power Assure EM/4 data center software to gain visibility and control of power utilization throughout their data center.

A10 Networks was in need of a robust energy management solution for their data center that is being burdened by the company’s rapid growth. They required the solution to accelerate, optimize and secure the applications, so that they can save power and cooling resources in their facility.

Todd Kleppe, director of operations for A10 Networks, said, "It's quite challenging to manage a plant that's different day-to-day, but even more challenging is the need to support the company's rapid growth with our existing power and space. So we knew we needed to get better control over how we distributed and used power throughout the data center.”

Power Assure EM/4 data center software not only provided visibility and control of power utilization, but also helped the network solutions provider improve cooling efficiency and power distribution capabilities. By deploying Power Assure EM/4, they gained insight and control of their consumption and are now able to fully utilize the resources for growth.

At the core of the EM/4 platform is a real-time Monitoring Module, which gives precise visibility into power use throughout the data center, as well as an Analytics Module that mines this real-time data, integrating it into a single database of useful information to assess usage patterns, identify areas of inefficiency, and model the data center to optimize resources.

Brad Wurtz, president and CEO, Power Assure, said, "We are very pleased with the visibility and utilization improvements A10 has experienced and look forward to continuing to support their rapid growth by getting more usage out of their existing infrastructure."

Following the success of Power Assure data center solution, A10 Networks plans to use runbooks to fully automate power management in the state-of-the-art data center in our new headquarters, Kleppe added.

"We know there is much more we can do with the EM/4 platform, such as to transition to an Always Available operational model instead of an Always On data center,” Kleppe said. “This will let us have the IT equipment available to come online when needed rather than staying on all of the time, whether it is needed or not.”

Large enterprises, government agencies and managed service providers are struggling to deal with increased power demand, constrained capacity, and data center inefficiencies. As a result, several trends will occur over the next three to five years that will impact how we utilize, manage and analyze energy in the data center, according to Power Assure’s CTO Clemens Pfeiffer.
