CUI Inc., a subsidiary of CUI Global, announced that it is leveraging its Solus Power Topology to pioneer a new era in DC-DC power supply performance.

CUI specializes in the development, commercialization, and distribution of new, innovative electro-mechanical products. CUI electronic components are used widely in the areas of power, interconnect, motion control, and sound.

Mark Adams, VP of Sales, CUI and Advanced Power Marketing, were interviewed recently by Power Systems Design or PSD regarding the new Solus Power Topology. Solus is an entirely new topology that is rich in features that enhances the performance of power conversion in the telecom and server markets said officials in a release.

It ensures greater efficiency, higher power density, reduced EMI (electro-magnetic interference) and faster transient response (4X as fast).

“CUI is introducing their NQB2060 Novum quarter-brick bus converter as a prime example of the benchmark 720 watts output power performance using their Solus Topology,” explained PSD.

The Solus Topology can maintain its effectiveness irrespective of the control method used as it can operate with analog voltage mode control, analog current mode control, and other digital control profiles. CUI can leverage this unique feature to implement this topology in different power supply product platforms, said officials.

Commenting on the advantages of the Solus technology Adams said, “This is the first product of many that will be based on the Solus Topology. The flexibility of the Solus Topology will allow us to not only incorporate it into an isolated dc-dc solution, but will also move to our non-isolated dc-dc and ac-dc product roadmaps. In today’s green world where efficiency and density is king, we believe our Solus Topology will be a difference maker in the market for years to come.”

CUI has decided to test the NQB2060 Novum quarter-brick product with selected customers and is expected to provide engineering samples to customers before full production release in Q1 2012.

In related company news CUI introduced the CUI NQB Series intermediate bus converter, the first product based on its patented Solus Power Topology in July 2011 according to a news release in TMCnet.
