Nexant, a provider of smart grid and clean energy technologies, announced that the Bonneville Power Administration (BPA) will be running new and innovative energy efficiency programs using a system built over its TrakSmart technology.
BPA is currently using the Planning, Tracking & Reporting (PTR) system across its Pacific Northwest utilities to manage and report about energy conservation and renewable resource activities. This system will be replaced by Nexant’s new Energy Efficiency Central (EE Central) system.
BPA asserted that recently it chose Nexant from a competitive solicitation to help it develop EE Central, which will provide customers with a user-friendly platform employing the latest technology to report their energy efficiency results. With the new system, BPA will be able to work with its customers to attain the aggressive energy efficiency objectives specified in the Northwest Power and Conservation Council’s Sixth Power Plan.
Nexant claimed that its TrakSmart provides the ease and convenience of online application, data submittal, and status checking. The ability to have direct, remote, and anytime access to a secure, easily navigable tracking database is supposed to be beneficial to all users. The technology is the result of combining Nexant’s DSM (News - Alert) program design knowledge and software system development expertise to address complex DSM programs that operate under a wide range of regulatory rules. The EE Central system is built over the TrakSmart platform and can offer flexibility, extensibility, interoperability, and the most advanced Energy Efficiency planning, tracking, and reporting capability in the market.
Officials with Nexant exclaimed that they are able to help BPA accelerate the adoption of new advanced operational technologies at a very competitive cost and with minimal impact to BPA’s internal support resources. Both BPA and Nexant are looking forward to going live with the core version of EE Central by October 1, 2011. The additional features to come on stream shortly thereafter will deliver additional value to the utility user community.
