Vivint, one of the nation’s largest home automation companies, has been selected to install municipal water meter system for Sandy City, Utah.

As part of the pact, Vivint’s smart grid solutions division will install 24,000 Sensus’ Flexnet meters over the next several years. The meters will use an Advanced Meter Infrastructure (AMI) communication network to relay the meter data directly to computers at Sandy City’s utility office.

The new system is expected to provide efficiencies for the City.

“We are delighted that Vivint has been entrusted with this important project,” said Alex Dunn, COO, in a statement.

“This is a real victory for our new Smart Grid Solutions Division, and we are committed to making the new metering system an even greater win for Sandy and its residents,” said Dunn.

Vivint is one of the largest home automation companies in North America.  Operating throughout the United States and Canada, the company retains more than 5,000 employees and services close to 500,000 customers.

Back in February, Vivint had announced new products and services that include automatic door locks, video surveillance and lighting and small appliance control.

These additions to the Vivint product line is expected to provide increased safety for families, improved energy efficiency throughout the home, and greater convenience for customers.

Vivint’s new home automation products are specifically designed to integrate with the company’s existing security and energy management systems, creating a full-service home automation system for residential customers across the United States and Canada.

At the center is the Vivint Go!Control panel, a central touch screen panel that communicates between each home automation product, giving customers access to their entire system via the touch of a button or remote control access via their smartphone or Internet browser.
